About the project

Design, fabrication, and commissioning of a motor and electrical protection control panel, featuring Siemens WinCC Unified PC supervisory control, Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 with ET 200SP distributed I/O, ABB motor protection circuit breakers and main breaker, Danfoss VLT drives, and Ewon Flexy remote access.

Benefits of Project

  • Reliable short-circuit and overload protection for motors and feeder circuits
  • Centralized supervisory monitoring and control via Siemens WinCC Unified PC
  • Faster fault detection and reduced unplanned downtime
  • Remote diagnostics and support without an on-site visit

Technologies We Used

  • Siemens WinCC Unified PC — supervisory control and visualization
  • Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC with ET 200SP distributed I/O
  • Siemens SITOP regulated power supply
  • ABB motor protection circuit breakers (MS132 series) and ABB SACE Tmax main breaker
  • Danfoss VLT AutomationDrive / VLT Midi Drive variable frequency drives
  • Ewon Flexy remote access gateway for IIoT connectivity

SCADA & HMI Screens

  • Process overview screens covering root washing, chopper & rasper, extraction, transfer and drying
  • Live trending, alarm list and audit trail for full operational traceability
  • Faceplates for drives, valves and instruments showing status, interlocks and alarms
  • Plant power monitoring — line voltages, currents and total active energy at the main MDB
  • Recipe and parameter sets for hopper current, tank and hopper levels, fan speeds and temperature

Project Overview

KRS ICS designed, fabricated, and commissioned a dedicated motor and electrical protection control panel to safeguard critical plant equipment against overload, short-circuit, and fault conditions. The panel integrates ABB motor protection circuit breakers and a main SACE Tmax breaker with Danfoss VLT variable frequency drives for screw feed and water pump duties, all wired and labeled to clear safety standards.

Our Approach

A Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC with ET 200SP distributed I/O and SITOP power supply handles local control logic, while a Siemens WinCC Unified PC provides centralized supervisory visualization. An Ewon Flexy gateway was added for secure remote access, allowing our engineers to monitor performance and support the system without needing to travel on site.
